I moved into a property that Mr. Guzman managed as a victim of domestic violence with my young daughter. Mr. Guzman fraudulently signed a paper stating that he received CASH from me for rent with the HAND Program (a government program) so that he could receive funds from the program, and then proceeded to file eviction papers based on that amount. The only paper I ever received from him was a 3 day notice. When I reminded him of the documents he signed, I never heard anything else from him. A month later, I received a 24 hour notice for eviction, which was left taped to a fence dividing the propery line. Mr. Guzman never followed any of the other protocol for filing an eviction, and he lied to the court. There is a due process for filing an eviction, and those laws are in place to protect both the landlord and the tenant, and he has used his position of authority and influence to abuse the process. As a property manager here in Miami-Dade, it is my observation that he is going to have more influence, and possibly more credibility, than I am going to have as a renter. I filed a motion with the court to stay the eviction, and my motion was denied. My review of Mr. Guzman is that he is unethical and immoral and it is my hope that one day he finds himself searching for gainful employment in another field because he's had his real estate license suspended.
